PostSubject: Prices of Textbooks   Thu Aug 21, 2008 9:10 am

Seriously- wtf! Why the hell does it cost so flippin' much for a textbook that you will get- what!?- 3 months use out of? I have spent close to $500 just on books for one semester. What kills me even more is when a professor writes a textbook, we need it for his/her class, have to pay full price for the book -we can't even get a break in price as his/her student! He/She is making a killing while I'm freaking out about how I'm going to either scrape the money up or pay back my loans! Evil or Very Mad

OH BTW- I do know of a great online place to get textbooks cheaper- chegg.com or half.com. Try those websites before you purchase from your schools bookstore! That has helped me big time!!!

whenever possible, always buy used. if you sell them back at the end of the semester you can lower your cost to about 100 bucks a book.

if the prof has written the class textbook. personally i would have never wanted to take the class. i mean nobody likes a knowitall...especially one who really is going to have the right answers all of the time.

Her class is part of the core curriculum- no way to not take the class or use the textbook. I have since found out that some of the books will be used for more than one semester, so looking at it that I won't have to buy for the next semester softens the blow a bit. Still, it's ridiculous how much they cost! Shocked

The kicker is how they issue a newer version each year as well, and the classes require that version
